February Fun

Walter’s birthday was pretty low-key. He had ordered some cabinets back in January that were scheduled to be delivered on his birthday. So, he planned to spend the day doing manly things in the garage assembling and mounting the cabinets (and then bring me in to organize all of our junk into them). Then he planned to fix himself a nice steak on the grill for dinner.

Unfortunately, I guess, because of the blizzard on the east coast, the cabinets didn’t make it to Fort Worth on time, so they weren’t delivered until later in the week. But I don’t know why a little snow would stop the east coast guys. It didn’t stop the Lowe’s delivery guys from getting to our house, anyway.

In case you've been under a rock for the past couple weeks, we had LOTS of snow here in Texas. We broke the record for the most snow in one day! Roman's school was closed and Chloe's let out early at noon, so Walter's mom went to pick her up. I left work early when we still only had about 4 inches in the parking lot at work.
So, Walter was already home with his newly-delivered cabinets. Once the delivery truck left, he tried to pull his car into the driveway, but couldn't get up the slope, so he had to shovel the snow off of it. He said when I got home, "I haven't shoveled snow in years!"  And I reminded him that it was actually decades.

Shortly before dinner, we had about 5" piled up in our back yard (deeper around the fence line).  We let the kids go out and play again before bath time and we had accumulated another 2½ inches.

The kids played hard all day at Grammy's house, and went out again after dinner. It was all the way up to Roman's knees in some places! Here's a little video I took of us playing:

Roman thought it was hillarious to throw snowballs at Chloe's face, but it kind of worked out because Chloe thought it was hillarious to receive them in her face.
