The One Where I Catch Up

So here we are in the middle of June.  I used to be an avid blogger.

The month of May is always entirely too busy for us, though. I should only expect it to get worse as the kids get older.

Roman's Birthday: Things were so busy that I just decided to fork out the cash-ola and take it easy this time. (As opposed to the party at home that we've done in the past.)  We hosted at Pump It Up this year.  If you don't have one of these places near you, they're awesome.  It's a huge warehouse of bounce-houses. They have a ginormous slide and obstacle courses and it's crazy fun. So we show up and they keep things progressing until the end where we have cake and pizza. They help with the opening of gifts and wisk us out the door and I never had to lift a finger. Very nice.

Chloe's Ballet: The last couple years, Chloe's spring performance has been during Memorial Day weekend. Very annoying because we have had to dip out of our usual get-togethers to attend. But she is such a treat to watch and the older dancers are fun to watch too. This week, she's going to ballet camp and the she has a break for the summer.

T-Ball: Roman finished up his first T-ball season. He was slow to get into it, but toward the end of the season, he really enjoyed it. Which is disappointing because our team sucked. And I'm not usually a complainer, but we really sucked. The team started out with six kids, but one moved away right before the first practice, so that left us with five. Another kid just never showed up, so that left us with only four most of the time. The coach's kid had just turned three, still wore pull-ups, and couldn't be kept on the field.  So our three little devoted players went out and got their butts wholloped every Saturday by some seven-member team that already knew what they were doing. The last two games, the other team let us borrow some of their members so the innings would be evenly matched. Good thing they don't keep score. Roman often got the game ball because, really, there was nobody left to give it to.

Backyard Fun: One of our regular Memorial Day things used to be a block party on Yoakum street to celebrate all of our neighbors' May birthdays (we had a lot!). Andrew and Helen and the kids come down from Kansas and we cookout streetside with the 'hood.  Since Chloe's spring performance coincided, we had our own party at the new house the following day. Our Yoakum friends came over and we invited our new neighbors who have also recently built houses on our street.

I like the boys in the background dumping water on each other, LOL!

My Girl Scouts have also been busy. We had an end-of-the-year rollerskating party and I had intended to do a bridging ceremony that evening also.  But I was having so much skating fun that I TOTALY FORGOT about the bridging. So, last weekend, I had a backyard mini-campout and bridged a couple of the girls then. We made s'mores by the campfire (a.k.a my copper fire pit) and sang old Girl Scout camp songs. Only one of the other girls and her mom stayed overnight in the tents, but it was fun to listen to the girls giggle in the tent next door until ALMOST MIDNIGHT!  But it was cute.
