I should be working on my graduate capstone project, but instead I'm blogging.
This past weekend capped a very long month. Chloe graduated from her Montessori school on Friday. They had a nice little ceremony at the Botanic Gardens downtown. She was so proud on the stage! I went into work for a couple hours afterward and rushed out again to get Chloe ready for her dress rehearsal for her ballet recital. The performance was Saturday night after we attended our friend Gavin's birthday party up in Grapevine (which is about 45 minutes away). That was a really late night. Sunday, we taught children's church and had dinner at Walter's mom's house.

Monday was Memorial Day and we didn't have any plans. The day was perfect. After breakfast at IHOP, we strolled around Home Depot and took advantage of the tax discount on Energy Star appliances. We coupled that with the store's 10% discount and Walter's parents' military discount. We got a new Maytag washer and dryer that I've been looking at for a long time. And we got the pair for less than the standard price of just the dryer. Our sweet friends from church will be taking our old washer and dryer once we can get to it in our storage unit.
After Home Depot, we lounged by the pool and grilled some burgers at Walter's mom's house.
Roman's birthday party got rained out two weeks ago. I had planned a low-key day at the park where the kids could get sugared up on cake and then run it off at the playground. But of all the days for it to rain! Walter's mom saved the day and let us use her garage. I sent Walter down to the park to re-direct any guests that came. We had a small turn-out, but Roman didn't know any different; as long as there's cake, it's a party for him. Ben and his parents and sisters were in town and came over to the party too. The day zipped by, but I did manage to sneak in some hugs.

Walter says our house is probably within 30 days of being done. We now have tile, cabinets, granite, plumbing, lighting, and landscaping. They've scraped the paint and goop off the windows and fenced in our yard. UPDATE!! We now have appliances and carpeting! That's usually one of the last things to do, so we're really close now. All that's left are window blinds, clean-up, and inspections! Time to lock in our mortgage rate and get our moving boxes ready.
